Poetry
I admit up front that some poetry leaves me quite befuddled, but then there are other works that inspire me and leave me in awe. How do you feel about poetry?
-
I feel that way about really old poetry that get a bit flowery, but the sentiment and story of the poem and verse truly carries me away.

When it comes to poetry, I only read Pablo Neruda. I love his sonnets and his love poems. They are deep, yet they do not sound abstract. I love the words and the metaphors he uses. His poems come from someone who truly understands the nature of love!
This is one of my fave Neruda poems:
Sonnet XVII
I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
-
And this one, too (sorry, when it comes to Neruda, I just get carried away):
Before I loved you, love, nothing was my own:
I wavered through the streets, among
Objects:
Nothing mattered or had a name:
The world was made of air, which waited.
I knew rooms full of ashes,
Tunnels where the moon lived,
Rough warehouses that growled 'get lost',
Questions that insisted in the sand.
Everything was empty, dead, mute,
Fallen abandoned, and decayed:
Inconceivably alien, it all
Belonged to someone else - to no one:
Till your beauty and your poverty
Filled the autumn plentiful with gifts.

I love poetry. I prefer the more modern and more non-traditional ones, like e.e. cummings. I simply adore how e.e.cummings comes up with weird and unique poems that defy conventional forms.

I don't like poetry that much but must say there are some poems that are so appealing - anyone who cares to read such poems will definitely like them.

I acclaim poets for their creativity so consistent. They derive sweetly flowing lines with a pleasant rhythm to add on the taste. I think poetry is the best way to express one's inner feelings, be they of agony, love, depression, thrill, appreciation etcetera.

As there are different types of poems, some are easy to grasp the message while others require some deep knowledge on poetry for one to get the message.
For those poems that have read and grasped the message like Building the Nation by Claude Markey, I can say poetry is real fan.

I love poems because they tend to express the inner feelings,l have to admit that the love poems do get me carried off. I love arts and poetry is my best.

I adore poetry; I especially like those poems with hidden meaning. I like it when I try to figure out what the poet meant in his words.
