With the gas price so high on the pumps, I have just managed to start watching my miles gauge keenly.

Actually now days I reset the mile gauge each time I refill my gas tank in order to keep track of my weekly mileage. When I used to work I was clocking an average of 280 miles per week, that has drastically fallen because of my self imposed mile watch curfew.

Talk of what the high price on the pumps has achieved and definitely it's shaping our driving habits. These days, I think twice before I jump into my car and drive to somewhere.

It all depends on my job. I have my own business consultant company so my driving varies from one week to the next. Sometimes I drive very little and sometimes I can drive a couple of hundred miles in a week.

I used to drive myself to work which is about 10-15 kilometres away from my home. Now, with the sky high gas prices, I decided toi take the public transportation and take my car out only during weekends with my family. Now I have cut my weekly drive by 90% from 200 kilometres to only about 10 to 20 kilometres.

I used to drive about 300 kilometres every week from home to office. I got tired of being stuck in traffic for hours so I just rented a place near my office. Now I walk to my office everyday and saved a lot in gasoline expenses. The space of my new apartment is not much, less than 1,000 square feet but my quality of life is much better now that I am nearer everthing. I get to spend more time on my hobbies and sports activities than commuting to work.

That is a very good thing you have there Barack. But I guess some people (like me) is tied down to having bought a suburban home. So I have no choice but to continue my long commute to the office which sometimes takes as long as an hour on the road due to bad traffic conditions. By the way, I drive about 300 kilometres a week.

With the gas prizes I drive about 300 miles, though short distances but what can I say it is part of life
