Default Gas Saving Kits

Do you use a fuel saving kit? There seems to be a proliferation of these type of products these days and I am wondering how effective are these. My friend used a fuel additive called F1 2020 and claimed she saved 20% in fuel costs.

I doubt that any of those gas saving kits and formulations will save you money. Come to think of it, if a device is particularly helpful in saving gas, why was it not included in the car or new cars in the first place?

I know though that cold air intake systems installed in cars saves up to 5% of fuel. I just doubt any claim that reached double figures.

They do say that desperate times calls for desperate measures. With the gas price almost at $ 4.00 a gallon, people will certainly start to look for and be sold to even the craziest ideas and stuff in the name of saving gas.

For instance about your friend who is claiming to be saving 20% on the gas bill - yes that might be true in the short run, but do they really know what effect the fuel additive F1 2020 will have on their cars performance and engine in the course of time?

Be careful because some people may come up with products to take advantage of a desperate market while looking for solutions - while to them all that matters is having a windfall of profit at the detrimental of the consumer.

The only visible short term way to save on your gas is to drive less, make sure your car tires are probably inflated and your car is in a good driving condition and don't forget to adjust your driving habit - like how you accelerate and apply your brakes. You might want to be a little bit gentle to your car...

That is a great response by Joseph. All these gas saving kits being sold in the market do not work at all, if you have read studies by reputable organizations. Some that do may give you a short term boost but harm your engine in the long run. So cavat emptor as there is no easy solution to the high gas prices today.
