Women and Hair in Church

The bible teaches in Corinthians 11 that a woman should cover her hair before presenting before the Lord. How is this principle exercised in our churches today?

...but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled disgraces her head—it is one and the same thing as having her head shaved. For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or to be shaved, she should wear a veil. (V. 5-6)

Do Christians know that it is wrong for a woman to go to church with plaited or unveiled hair? Are these teachings adhered to anyway?

The Bible's rules about women wearing veils or dressing cannot be applied directly to today's situation since it would cause quite a disruption in most churches. A few Christians interpret these passages as requiring women to dress very obviously and abstain from wearing jewelry or using makeup or unveiling. According to me, I think it’s a good idea that we avoid any style of wearing that is only offensive or sends a message opposing the church community's morals. Something like unveiling your hair was avoided for married women who by doing that were disgracing their husbands and not God!

But then I think that this verse has a deeper meaning than what we are just seeing.
