    Default A Day to Remember

From the Genesis stories of creation, when God had finished creating, He rested. On the seventh day after creation He not only rested but set aside and sanctified this day as a holy day of rest from work. God left an emblem to mark a day for Him-the Sabbath day. God did not ordain anyone to choose any day of worship but we have so many days of rest on earth.

On this day He ordered man to worship Him and refrain from all physical work, and concentrate on divine and good works only. He as well included it in His commandments to Moses to His people. The Sabbath day was, is and will be kept holy as the Lord lives. The commandments given to Moses were to be obeyed and breaking one rendered one a total sinner.

Man has ignored the fact that God’s word remains true and should be adhered to. The Sabbath is not a day for the Jews only like some perceive but the Lord’s Sabbath. In the book of Revelation chapter 4 we read on how angels are witnessed in heaven singing hosanna to God. The Sabbath is even in heaven!

Remember the day you were created and try to imagine how God thought until He came up with you in your mother’s womb. Remember you were in His mind when He was creating. He was there and shall be there forever. You therefore need to know that God has a purpose for the Sabbath just like He has for you.

The Sabbath day is a day that no man is allowed to work, neither his servants nor oxen. Even though others argue that Jesus came as a revelation and unlocked all these Jewish laws, the Sabbath was initiated by God Himself. Jesus as well rested on the Sabbath but for the divine works He performed that made the Jews condemn Him as going against their religious practises. He was only doing what was right and not works of earning Him bread. He clarified it to them that He had come to fulfil the law and not to break it. Jesus was God Himself and could not work against what He made.

In exodus 16:26 God sent the Israelites manna when they were in the jungle. He commissioned them that on the sixth day they collect food enough for two days, meaning for the sixth and seventh day, so that on the Sabbath day they remain rested and worshipping.

The Sabbath will be carried on to heaven where it originated from. The bible says that after judgement, we shall gather at Jordan, on the Sabbath we all saints shall rest from the earth’s labour and drink from the springs of life eternal. Those who have stood all the tribulations of the evil one and have kept their faith shall live forever to honour and keep holy the Sabbath.

God kept the Sabbath, Jesus as well did, and Jesus’ disciples as well rested and honoured this day. Who are we as men to ignore what God gave us? Let us open our hearts and submit to the ordination of God. The Sabbath will dwell forever as the Lord lives.
