Default The Angry Mob; Who Should Take Responsibility

The bible condemns killing in the book of Exodus. However, recently mob justice has become the order of the day. This morning I came across a mob that was mercilessly beating up a guy who had allegedly stolen from them. This reminded me of a story of a man who was caught stealing CDs and was stoned to death!

We have heard of cases where a crowd of protesters have stopped the police from implementing the law. They take the law into their own hands, and end up taking the life of others. It is very possible that some of the victims may well be innocent. Mob justice is an ugly part in most parts of the country and the world as a whole. It is our hope that such practices are cubed but it has to begin with you. Don’t you ever try to incite an angry crowd.

    Exodus 23:2
Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil - General usage will never excuse us in any ill practice; nor is the broad way ever the safer for its being crowded.
Mob justice is a sin and has such been condemned by the bible; though people don’t heed.

The question is who should take responsibility for the maddening protesters? Who can stand up to the angry crowd?

Great sorrow when one is stoned to death as if those doing that have never stolen. But anyway thank God that you are not part of mobs. Try that your friend, your friend’s friend etc are not part, believe you me there will be no mob. I believe in correction done in the right way, we should encourage that. For heaven sake why should people stone their fellow to death as if he/she the entire world from them. That’s completely wrong!

According to the laws of Moses, when one was caught in sin, for instance adultery, he was stoned to death. In an incident, a certain woman was caught in the act and people brought her to Jesus so that they could hear His ruling on the same. Jesus answered that whoever was sinless be the first to cast a stone. He then began to write their sins each, on the ground. When they saw this they went away one by one and only Jesus and the woman remained. Jesus told her to sin no more and she was forgiven!

As much as the commandment of God spells out that we should not kill, no one has a right over life or to judge any one in anyway. We are all sinners and before we cast stones on an offender, we should think of our lives, whether they are worthy to live or not. Are we so righteous than the one we want to put to death, or are there minor and major sins. In fact when you kill another for a sin committed you get full account from God on the person’s life and the blood you shed. How do you whether this person will at some point in life repent and change anytime he conforms to the voice of God? Paul was a killer but at last he was transformed into an apostle!

Let us not act holier than we really are. Counsel will help this person change. God transforms lives of His children and even thieves or adulterers are His beloved.

What does the bible say? John 8:7
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.
If we are pretty sure that we are blameless before God then we should participate in mob justice.

The question still remains; can anyone stand up to the angry crowd? Who is going to take responsibility? Whom should we blame for this inhumane act? What can we do to stop it if not reduce it?

Everyone is to blame; whoever is involved in the same. Mob justice or rioting cannot solve a situation but will only add ruin. It all begins by a single person and spreads through influence and some even do it for granted or excitement. If the person who first realized a problem uses intellect to bring out the issue or a solution, then there will be no mob justice. The area police or chiefs should be alert on such issues before people take the whole matter into their hands. Unless we begin thinking as to how it could be us being worked on by mob justice, we will still have people stoned or burnt to death.
