Cool A woman's most prized possession

I would love to know how you guys feel about how Black women wear their hair. Let me first talk about my own hair. My hair is of a curly texture that goes past my shoulders, but it is thinner than I would like. I LOVE to wear weaves, braids and ponytails because I hate to spend lots of time doing my hair, and they are quick fixes that are so convenient and stylish. I have come across men who despise weave, as well as men who don't have a problem with weave as long as it looks good.

The men who despised weaves said it was because they feel like women that wear weave can't grow their own hair, and felt like we should be confident in ourselves without "hiding" behind weave. I had a friend of mine that stopped wearing weaves because the man she was seeing ridiculed her anytime she wore it. My boyfriend told me that his ex-girfriend's real hair remained a mystery to him the entire 8 YEARS they were together because she constantly wore extensions.

What a lot of these men don't realize is that one of our goals as women is to look good, not only for ourselves, but for them as well. I'm grateful to have a man who complements my hair when I'm wearing weave and even when I'm not. So do the majority of men really care if it's a weave or not? And do women prefer a weave or to be au natural? Is it an enhancement to the beauty we already have, or is it a remedy for an insecurity we may have about ourselves?

Hey if you going to put a weave put in the right way, I personally don't have a problem with ladies who put weaves as long as they look good. Some put some of those weaves under their unkempt hair which it shows on the edges of the weaves.
Some ladies put all these different colors and lets say some of these colors don't match their skin complexion. Some don't clean their weaves and especially in clubs after all the dancing when they sweat the weaves stinking smell lingers on the air.
But thinking about it they are some ladies whose weaves are off the chain and they look super nice. But that doesn't mean you should wear a weave for your entire lifetime.

I love my Girl looking good and if it takes that weave to make her look good, then girl - put it on. Of course there are some style that I have complete distaste for, I will let her know my reasons for not liking them but it will be her choice.

Now notice I use the word "good" not beautiful because to me beauty is not just about looks and the hair style or legs and...yes they play a role but that is not a finality other aspects like common interests, compatibility and common goals will have a bigger role to play more than the look or style of the hair weave.
