Your post reminds me of some of my college professors and PHD holders. I remember two particular professors one for psychology and the other for philosophy, who were in their late 60's and how they used to dress and tutor.
I can tell you these two professor were so knowledgeable and experts in their respective fields, but what was amazing was how effective they managed to pull the whole class attention of more than two hundred students. Very few students used to miss their lectures let alone sleep during the three hour long class as compared to other college classes.
But I can tell you, the way they used to dress was rather comical. They used to wear this coats that were all wrinkled as if they had just washed and squeezed them the night before but forgot to iron. The shirts and trousers were also in a sorry state and seemed they had lasted a decade.
Style and fashion was a foreign terminology to these two great professors, but when they opened their mouth, one could not just but be left with total admiration.
