Time management is an important achievement in daily life. It enables one to meet set targets and expected results. People who manage their time properly are wise and have most of their projects run smoothly. God Himself does things in order. Even in the bible story of creation, He made everything at its own time and set aside time for resting.

Being time conscious does not mean that things be done carelessly, but in order and decency. In 1st Corinthians 14:40, Paul urges believers to have everything done decently, one at a time and in a good manner. God timed even the delivery of a child, the life of a person and this is very strict according to His time. Salvation for mankind was preordained by God and came to pass at the set time. Jesus died and ascended when His mission was done.

As human beings we waste a lot of time in our own businesses, some unfruitful, yet God’s businesses are given the most limited attention and time. Much time is spent in idle talks with friends, which may later cause collisions due to corrupt words to our fellows, morning hours are wasted in bed instead of waking up and preparing for the Sabbath. Laxity that no one will question us for being late to church is all we think of but during the normal working days we wake up very early to do our businesses. We do not give God the best of His time. We walk at liberty to church, complain when summons take long and do not bother to resume to divine programmes in the afternoon.

At home we never take time to study the word of God or pray but stay in front of the television to watch favourite programmes instead. Travelling and trying to keep appointments when we surely should spend time with God is also how we waste time. Remember if God managed time we also should for we are His own, and we shall be accounted on every moment of life. The purposes for which we are created have a specified time for accomplishment and failure to meet the target will render us accountable for the same before God (Read Ecclesiastes 12:14).

We need habits of order. Parents should coach their children on how to manage time. A mother should not sleep late and keep on calling on her children to assign them duties while she lies in bed. The bible teaches that a wise woman should be out of bed early to prepare food for her family and the one who lazes around is cursed.

Those who utilise their time well and in useful service find time to bless others in service just as they are blessed too. God is magnified and glorified through them. Our lives should reflect glory to God. Life is short and we therefore need to live to the best of God’s will, walk in wisdom and apply our hearts into the same.
