Can we blame them?

What are your opinion/s regarding Teachers, Doctors,and Nurses leaving there own country just to work abroad, to earn money even though there many people who are in need of there services in there country. Can we blame them? or we should blame the government, or the country? Is it wrong to be a patriot today?

This really depends on a country economy. If government could mention a good salary for them i think they don't need to go abrod for a good salary. But there is a matter here anyone can go abroad to get higher education if she/he can not get any proper education from his/her country but they should come back to their country for serving their own people.

It is really sad, the country that provides you every thing, you easily ditch that place and try to move away.Reason might be any, I am not supporting such people.Money is something but not everything.It is so satisfying to be at your place and doing something for your countrymen.

I must say that if Doctors, Nurses and Teachers are really leaving your country for greener pastures, I think that your country's future is dim. If teachers leave, who will teach the younger generations to be professionals that will help their nation? I know that foreign currency remittances are important source of revenue for many foreign governments, from the Latin America to Asia, but what country has progressed as a result of foreign currency remittances?

This is a perfect case scenario where the governments in these countries has failed miserably to identify, curb and take control of its internal resources and channel them to their rightful use.

I think the blame game will do little to settle this problem.

Developing countries are in grave danger and have become a prey of the well developed nations. Developing nations should treat this as an emergency situation that deserves immediate solution. Brain drain is the new form of imperialism or slavery in modern world where developing nations are losing their best sons and daughters at the jeopardy of their own country's long term development.

Sometimes given the political and economical situations on the ground, one can become more patriotic by actually staying away, working and using those resources to contribute to their nations development either on a family level, business level or other non governmental projects.

However, I think doctors working abroad can actually be good for a country. My wife just had a cutting edge medical procedure that was not available in Kenya lately. Her doctor that pioneered the procedure had just recently returned after working in the United States for several years. Now he can share his knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in the medical world to his compatriots.
