Default The Body of Jesus Christ

Man’s salvation took a great process full of unbearable agony and pain. This included Jesus’ arrest His trial and finally His death on the cross. Though he died later on He resurrected to fulfill the prophecies and also to give an assurance to Christians.

Before his death Jesus had taught much about his mission. He had a special meal with his disciples, the last supper. After well preparation he took bread and gave thanks to God, he broke it and gave it to his disciples to share declaring it as his own body that man would receive salvation from.

He also took a cup of wine and similarly gave thanks to God and blessed it he gave it to his disciples to share and confirmed it as his own blood that shall be poured for the sake of man’s salvation.

Jesus went ahead to tell them that they should be taking it as a sign of remembrance of Him. Similarly this mission still is conducted among Christians in sharing the Holy Communion as the body of Christ that brought salvation to the sinful world.

This is as a sign of unit amongst Christians and continuity of Christ’s mission of retrieving the lost to God.

Jesus body is of great significance to Christian's life in general. Before He was betrayed, Jesus told His disciples to eat the bread (His body) and drink the wine (His blood) in remembrance of Him. This practice has been continued since then as a way of remembering the sacrifice of God's one and only begotten son, who paid the ultimate price for the atonement of our sins. It strengthens our relationship with God and when we receives His body and His blood worthily, He dwells in us and we in Him.

Through the body and blood of Christ symbolical in the Holy Communion, we are reminded of the pain He went through to pay the price for our redemption. God had made us with and for a purpose, which we had to accomplish and that is why He never assumed our failure at Eden. Just like Jesus' tribulations, we need to bear all the pain and agony, temptations and trials in the journey of faith and in the end we shall conquer it all. Let us bring more sheep to the shepherd.

We do participate in the Holy Communion in remembrance of Christ had to undergo in order to buy us salvation. The one thing we should bear in mind during this celebration is that He remitted our sins and so we have to accept him into our lives as our Lord and personal savior. The same way Christ underwent pains and difficulties and persevered we too should persevere the same way He did.
