Manís salvation took a great process full of unbearable agony and pain. This included Jesusí arrest His trial and finally His death on the cross. Though he died later on He resurrected to fulfill the prophecies and also to give an assurance to Christians.
Before his death Jesus had taught much about his mission. He had a special meal with his disciples, the last supper. After well preparation he took bread and gave thanks to God, he broke it and gave it to his disciples to share declaring it as his own body that man would receive salvation from.
He also took a cup of wine and similarly gave thanks to God and blessed it he gave it to his disciples to share and confirmed it as his own blood that shall be poured for the sake of manís salvation.
Jesus went ahead to tell them that they should be taking it as a sign of remembrance of Him. Similarly this mission still is conducted among Christians in sharing the Holy Communion as the body of Christ that brought salvation to the sinful world.
This is as a sign of unit amongst Christians and continuity of Christís mission of retrieving the lost to God.
