    Default How Jesus Attracted Crowds

    One of the impressive characteristics of Jesus’ ministry was that it attracted large crowds.

    Enormous crowds followed him whenever he went. {Mathew 4:25}

    The crowd Jesus attracted were so huge that one time he was almost crushed by one [Luke 8:42].

    Seeker loved to listen to him and thronged to wherever he was, even if it meant traveling a long distance.

    The reasons behind this are;

    He loved them [Mathew 9:36]

    Jesus met their needs [Mathew 15:30], [Luke 6:17-18]

    He taught them in interesting and practical ways [Mathew 13:34].

    Do you view these same ingredients as components attracting crowds to churches today?

    Jesus fascinated many individuals for the reason that He loved everyone evenly, ate with them and the largest part of His time He spent it in teaching and praying.
    It is true that gifts for best friends express friendship thoughts and emotions.

    Some as in the times of Jesus get to follow or join churches with the motive of becoming rich, by this they end up in occultism and turn away from the face of God. At a certain point Jesus told the people that they did not follow Him because He was the Son of God but because of the miracles and because he could feed them miraculously. So we should be careful on what pulls us to Him, by the things mentioned above I don’t mean that they are bad but they should not be our major aim in this walk. Let us seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and its righteousness and then all these other things shall follow us as an addition.

    I remember an incident when after Jesus had fed five thousands with two fish and five loaves of bread He left the town and a multitude followed Him. They loved Him because He would not leave them hungry. When Jesus realised this He began to teach them about how good it was to eat the bread of life, which was His body, the word of God, that just depending on food for just the stomach. When they heard this they did not feel happy and so most of them went back. Jesus never needed a multitude but the few who were ready to listen to what the Lord speaks.

    Spiritual food is very important for a Christian faith's growth and strength just like food is good for nurturing the body. Jesus was a good teacher for He used real life examples and more so immediate contexts to manifest God's power n greatness.

    I don’t think anyone can preach to a crowd they don’t love. It is important for preachers to love, learn and understand their crowd. Jesus knew that the best way to get to his audience was through the use of parables. However, he only used parables when need arose.

    Another thing that attracted crowds for Christ was speaking the truth and elaborating it to match peoples understanding.

    I particularly like the way he approached the question about the Sabbath.

    Mark 2:27-28
    And he said to them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath:
    Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.
    There are times when Christ rebuked the Pharisees. If that was the only way to make them understand, then it was only right for him to rebuke their actions and thoughts. As much as the Pharisees turned away from Jesus, many souls were captured in the process.
