Default Health Workers Call off Strike

A source reports that the Public Health Workers have called off a nearly two-week strike.

They went on strike on Monday of last week to demand for an increase of their pay and following the strike, 25,000 of them received their letters of dismissal from the government.

It is said that on Thursday the health workers strike a deal with the government hence withdrawing the threat of dismissing the 25,000 workers.

The union also has it that the government has promised to address the workers’ demand for hike in pay in July.

Why should it be promises every time? People have lost lives during the strike due to lack of attention, which I feel is wrong for our state leaders to overlook. It is a good step from both sides and we hope the government will fulfil their pledge. Doctors are doing a good job and they deserve a better pay.

I support the health workers for the strike, because they had agreed with the government to hike their salary by March but failed to do so. Threatening them with letters of dismissal by the government is not the solution! Sacking them is not at all a solution to their problem. The government should communicate with the union representatives and address the workers about their demand.

Such promises are believed to stand empty, though it affects the common person, the government and stake holders should seek a better and instant solution to such.
