    Default Ban to Holiday Tuition

Following the stern prohibition of Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo, do you think it is wise that way or are students affected negatively anyway? Should holiday coaching be legalised or is it too much work to the brain?

To some extent, I back him up. There are some schools especially private schools that overwork the brains of those little children. There have been instances where students are spending half the night doing homework; if you asked me, I will say those kids need a break from all that.

In my own opinion l think he did a wise thing, these students do need a break to refresh their memories they shouldn't over work their brains.

my concern is that the children of the rich still attend tuition since they are able to afford private schools fees.tuition period lasts for two weeks only to conclude that choldren are overworked when indeed they are being helped to cover the syllabus.

I don't concur with your claims @genius2. The minister allows not even private schools to conduct holiday tuition. Maybe you should say they hire private teachers to the house to coach their children at home. With that one, no one is concerned but to school, no!

Again, with covering the syllabus, teachers are given schemes of work enough to cover the whole syllabus within the curriculum period. Teachers and parents cause the inconvenience due to not attending some lessons because o private or official reasons, or students with fees arrears sent home, forcing the teacher to review the already covered areas. At times teachers laze for they know the syllabus not tackled can be dealt on during the holidays, whereas the students are supposed to be on break.
