A solar charged plane is expected to land in the Moroccan capital Rabat by Tuesday. The Carbon fibre plane is light in weight and of the size of an Airbus A340. It is composed of 12000 solar cells turning four electrical motors.
The solar impulse project was initiated by Mr. Piccard and Andrew Boscherg a Swiss based pilot in the year 2003. The aircraft appeared in history books as the first solar plane to complete a 26 hour nonstop flight. It proved that suns energy was enough to put the plane in the air at anytime.
