Default Disabled Girl Held for Blasphemy Charges

An 11 year old girl in Pakistan has been detained for allegedly burning pages of the Quran. Media reports say the girl suffers from Down syndrome. The girl told the police that she didn’t know that they were pages from a Quran. The punishment for blasphemy in the country is a life sentence.

Whoever ruled out the case should rethink on his/her act. For one the girl is disabled and at the same time she confessed innocence about the pages. Will you jail someone for burning the bible? Why don’t people let God take up His duties alone? Who was ordained to judge another and where is that written? I though it is only God but then, some of our judges to my disappointment are really taking it too far. After all, someone’s faith remains God’s question and finalisation. The punishment for the little girl, too young to spend life in jail yet she has a future to shape is really inhuman. A review to the case should be done immediately and she let go free.

The girl is underage; besides, she never knew they were pages from a Quran. Giving her a life sentence will be way too unfair.

Default Detained Girl over Burnt Koran Pages Found Not Guilty

It has been proofed by the law courts in Pakistan that the girl is not guilty of the charges for which she is being detained, two weeks now. A Pakistani imam has been remanded in custody, accused of planting pages of the Koran among burnt pages in the bag of a Christian girl held for blasphemy.

Prosecutors say Imam Khalid Chishti will himself face charges of blasphemy.

Imam Khalid Chishti allegedly told a witness, after tampering with the girl's bag, that this was a "way of getting rid of Christians"!

The case has sparked international condemnation. I wonder if religions want to force others of variable faith into theirs and after all what makes them think they are serving the true God and follow the right principles.

Finally the poor girl has a reason to smile and finally justices prevailed, let that Imam serve as an example to the rest who think they can do whatever they please and go scout free.
